Description

Anthony (Tony) J Kelly CSsR is one of Australia’s leading Catholic theologians. Over his career he has produced 20 books and booklets and countless book chapters and articles. This volume is a collection of 14 essays by some of his grateful doctoral students and friends to celebrate his 75th birthday, including contributions from Frank Moloney, Anne Hunt, Robert Gascoigne, Neil Ormerod and Gerard Hall. The essays have been ordered into three areas of interest: theology, spirituality and contemporary issues. Each of these areas reflects Tony’s own personality and impact on the Church. Reflecting his more strictly theological interests, section on theology contains contributions which touch on the Trinity (Anne Hunt), the resurrection (Glenn Morrison), soteriology (Peter Stork) and creation (Neil Ormerod). Reflecting his interest in spirituality and the poetic as a means of addressing the spiritual, the second section deals with topics of discipleship (Frank Moloney), Marian missionary spirituality (Gerard Hall), the place of spiritual experience in theology (Meredith Secomb), the contribution of poetic language to theology (Greg Smith) and the significance of human vulnerability (Beatrice Green). A final section on contemporary issues touches on Tony’s deep pastoral concerns for the life of the Church.
