The pope has returned to the Vatican to recover from his successful colon operation. it is expected that he will spend two weeks at rest. The pontiff, who is now 84, left the Catholic-run Gemelli hospital in Rome on the 14th of July.
After he returned to his apartment in the Vatican, Pope Francis wrote on Twitter: “I thank all those who have been close to me with prayer and affection during my hospital stay. Let us not forget to pray for the sick and for those who assist them.”
Pope Francis is expected to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland in November, health permitting.
