Belfast: Faith in the City

The Churches can play the right notes but in the wrong order. They can also play the right notes in a way that is not capable of being heard. This ecumenical study of faith in inner-city Belfast is motivated by the view that faith is always transmitted and received in a particular cultural context and that a faith that does not become culture is a faith that has not been fully received nor fully lived out.

This contemporary Belfast account of the dialogue between faith and culture records a rich tapestry of urban faith stories and pastoral initiatives. This book acknowledges these endeavours and suggests hope filled paths for the twenty-first century.

Belfast: Faith in the City is based upon the findings of a study initiated by the ICFC (Irish Centre for Faith and Culture). Contributors include people from all the major Christian denominations.
