Description
The Easter Virgil is a time of prayerful watching in expectation of the resurrection of Christ, in preparation for the baptism of the catechumens, and for the renewal of the Christian life of the already baptised. The fundamental element of the Easter Virgil is in the scripture readings that the tradition of the Church puts before us. These readings that bring out the meaning of what we celebrate on this holy night.
Father Brian Magee brings together in “In the Light of Christ”, the experience of many celebrations of the Virgil. Up-to-date translations of the text of the readings are provided, and how they may be proclaimed is indicated. The introductions to the readings aim to help the congregation focus on the meaning of the text during the celebration. They also help priests and people to prepare prayerfully to keep Virgil on this night truly blessed.
