The new, revised edition of Our Catholic Faith offers a general overview of the Catholic faith as outlined by the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It is designed for use in an Introduction to Catholicism course in Catholic high schools. Students enter Catholic high schools with diverse formation experiences and understandings of the Catholic faith. This book is meant to introduce students to the major themes of Catholic theology and deepen their relationship with Christ. As an introduction to Catholicism, Our Catholic Faith helps students understand the Church’s teachings on God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. It provides students with a deeper understanding of the meaning of the Church leading them to consider Catholic teachings on the communion of saints, the Virgin Mary, and eternal life. Each of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church is introduced as well as the basic tenets of Catholic morality. Finally, students will enter into the rich tradition of Catholic prayer. This revised edition of Our Catholic Faith includes several new elements: Profiles of Faith: Each chapter includes a profile of a saint or contemporary Christian hero. Application ideas and suggested further reading are also included. Explaining the Faith: Q&As about the Catholic faith based on the USCCB High School Curriculum Framework are scattered throughout the text. Section Summaries: Review questions and reflection starters are provided at the end of each section. New Chapter Summaries: A “Chapter Quick View” provides a bulleted summary with page references. A list of long-term projects provides more depth and breadth for supplemental exploration. Updated Features and Statistics: Throughout the text, modern, real-life stories and statistics give students opportunities to apply Church teaching to everyday situations.
